Serving the Community...
In 1918, Edward M. Oetting came to Kinderhook with the vision
of establishing a successful and thriving bank to serve the farmers
and business men of Kinderhook and the surrounding community.
Mr.
Oetting's challenge was to raise capital, organize and charter
a new state bank. With enthusiastic community participation, this
was accomplished and the Kinderhook State Bank opened for business
on January 2, 1919.
For
the first 30 years, E.M. Oetting and his wife, Fern L. Oetting
operated the bank daily as its only employees. Mr. Oetting continued
working daily until his death on August 31, 1979.
Today,
as you enter through the original doorway, you will find many
of the same features that have been so much a part of the bank
since the early part of the century. These features combined with
the new ones provide a state of the art facility for customer
and employee banking efficiency.
We at the
Kinderhook State Bank are proud of our new facility. Our pledge
is to provide the finest of modern banking convenience tied to
the old fashioned warmth and friendly service that has been our
tradition since 1919. And our commitment is to provide the
financial needs of Kinderhook and the surrounding community with
reliability, safety and soundness through the next century
